Carpet manufacturer wants more than 'ordinary' sustainability
Deliberately chosen for water recycling
As a supplier of high-quality carpet tiles and wall-to-wall carpeting, Desso primarily focuses on superior floor design within the Cradle to Cradle® principle. The innovation strategy at Desso mainly relies on creativity and functionality. The commercial products - carpets for the business market - represent more than half of the total turnover. As far as the consumer market is concerned, Desso is the only European producer of carpet for the top segment of the market that is sold in the Benelux, France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Characteristic for Desso is that the company wants to go beyond 'ordinary' sustainability. Materials must be biologically or technically degradable so that they can be reused for new products. Desso has been producing top quality for almost 80 years and is active in more than 100 countries.
By entering into a cooperation agreement with the Hamburg Environmental Protection Encouragement Agency (EPEA), Desso is the first carpet manufacturer in the EMEA region to respect the Cradle to Cradle® principle. Water is seen by EPEA as a scarce and costly resource that requires good management. Reuse of water is hereby essential. It is therefore logical that Desso was looking for a suitable partner to further limit its 'water footprint'.
That suitable partner was Induss. Induss wants - completely independent and neutral - to help and guide Desso to realize their water reuse through a step-by-step plan.
