Green CO2

Strong together

Joint venture succeeds in drastically reducing CO2 emissions in Belgium

Green CO2 is a joint venture of three companies. Biofuel company Alco Bio Fuel, industrial gas supplier Messer Benelux and IJsfabriek Strombeek decided to join their forces and to work together to drastically reduce their CO2 emissions in Belgium.

Together they invested 15 million euro’s in a brand new carbon dioxide recovery unit that was built on the Alco Bio Fuel site in the port of Ghent. The new unit has been operational since the summer of 2016 and will annually recuperate and process as much as 100,000 tons of CO2, thereby reducing their CO2 emissions in Belgium.

The recycled CO2 will be used in the food and beverage industry, in water purification, for refrigerated transport or as a chemical source.

Green CO2 opted for water-link as his water supplier. Induss II will provide the necessary cooling water for the condensers of the recovery unit and will also continuously monitor the water quality. In order to dose the additives needed for water treatment in a safe and responsible manner, a special chemical dosage unit was also built by Induss in the spring of 2016. With frequent service visits and online monitoring, the quality of the cooling water will always be guaranteed and the condensers will remain free of corrosion and deposits.

This case shows once again that water-link is an all round professional partner for industry and water.
